Newborn Nixon | Clackamas Newborn Photographers

Baby Nixon arrived on Easter Sunday with a pretty “text book” delivery, a few days before his scheduled induction. He arrived in the studio for his session at the ripe ol’ age of 6 days new and slept like a dream. To top it off he had perfect hair and near perfect skin. In summery, he’s pretty much a perfect baby. I may be biased as a first cousin once removed by marriage but I think anyone who meets him will agree.

All In The Family | Gresham Oregon Family Photographer

I’ve know this family for a pretty long time. I used to watch Ben and Jessica YEEEEARS ago but I won’t talk about how only that makes me feel…Over the last 6+ years and a lot of life, Ilene has become the kind of friend that would probably donate a kidney without hesitation if I needed it
Anyway her son, Ben, is deploying in June so we made sure to do a big family session well before he had to go. We had THE CRAZIEST weather I think I have ever had for a session. There was 15-20 spurts of bright warm sun, light sprinkles, POURING…like DUMPING rain, little hail, HUGE hail…lather, rinse and repeat that cycle in different order. It definitely kept things interesting, especially for the kids. All in all, a good time was had by all.

Towards the end of the session, while we were waiting out one of the downpours, these sweet moments between this little guys and his mama happened and I was really glad I had my camera ready to go and I was at a good spot to be a “fly on the wall.” In case I haven’t said it quite enough, images of mommies and their kids are my very favorites.

Emmett Turns One | Gresham Baby Photographers

I’m pretty sure this little guy could double as the gerber baby. At the VERY LEAST he belongs on the cover of a big magazine, I don’t know how I get so blessed with such gorgeous clients. His daddy is a solider in the same unit as my husband so we are hardly strangers though. Looking through his gallery you’d never know he was trying to push some mean toofers out and a little grumpy. He really loves his mommy and daddy and they were like magic medicine, like mommies and daddies are.

Bentley | Clackamas Newborn Photographers

Bentley brought his precious family in the studio for his newborn session 6 days after his tremendous birth, that I also had the honor of documenting.

His birth was super hard on his mommy so it was nice to have a mellow newborn session and just hang out and Bentley snoozed like a cat. His big sissy was feeling a little under the weather and not quite as hammy as she was at the hospital but she is such a sweet sister and I’m pretty sure they will have the cutest kind of sibling relationship. Despite that rough delivery, his mama came to the studio like she was ready for the runway, she makes looking fabulous look so effortless. Clearly his daddy is no slouch either and together they make gorgeous babies too. The more I know this little family, the more they feel like MY family. I am so blessed, every time we talk, for them to pick me to capture these sweet moments in their lives.

Mom Teaches More Than Baking | Clackamas Family Photographers

Last summer Tresa found me on a Google search for photographers, we did their family session in August and she was also chosen by my guest judge as the winner of my Motherhood Session Giveaway shortly after. We clicked right at our first chat and somewhere in there became good friends over coffee, finding a connection over kid talk and motherhood aches…

ARTphotography_Clemmer_girls-img98

Her winning submission on what she loves to do with her kids: “I love to bake or cook with my 3 children. Not only does it teach them math, sharing, and patience- it instills a sense of pride in them and we create fun memories along the way!! PS- it is also how I get them to eat meals I think they may not want to eat- they help me cook and it is “magically” tasty!!”
I was thankful that I had a guest judge and didn’t have to choose from all the wonderful moms. At the time I hadn’t gotten to know Tresa quite as well as I have since but it didn’t take long to know how true and sincere her comments were…well, are…She is so patient and kind and never misses a chance to teach her kids something important in the everyday seemingly mundane. I have leaned so much from her and I’m so glad that Google introduced us. We planned the session for Spring Break and made excuses to get together during the winter and then finally decided in early March that we probably should actually plan out the session details. Her basically grown up 4th grade son decided that he should sit this out and leave the baking to the ladies this time so Tresa took the opportunity to add more girly flare. She ordered aprons for each of them on Etsy for the perfect pop of color and had the girls work together to read, measure and pour . It was adorable to watch Big Sis help Little Sis with the directions with all the right amounts of “down to business” and care free shenanigans with mom by their side. There were definitely extra shenanigans with the eating of the cookies fresh from the oven…and then she sent a plate of cookies with me to enjoy with my kids at home. They don’t come sweeter than that.
